This is Part 3 in our 4 part series of the benefits of being on LinkedIn. Links to the other 3 parts can be found at the bottom of this page. But now lets get into the discussion.
#Reason 11: Get Referrals, Endorsements and Introductions
On LinkedIn, you can get the best out of your connections and network by asking close friends or people physically known to you to introduce you to their connections, endorse you or even refer you, for a job or business opportunity. Many people feel more comfortable doing business or hiring people that have been endorsed or referred to them by people they actually know.
#Reason 12: Get Educated and Trained
LinkedIn has a very robust learning platform, LinkedIn Learning, its free for the first month then after that, you have to pay a subscription, but it gives you access to numerous courses in practically every field of endeavour. Learners have the ability to choose whether they want to take a short course or take an entire learning path. It is flexible and online and can be accessed from anywhere, most importantly it is trusted and recognised by schools and institutions of learning, organisations and even governments. It's a smart and easy way to learn and you can showcase your achievements on your LinkedIn profile once you have completed the course.
#Reason 13: Get Found on Google Search
If you have ever tried to google someone who has a LinkedIn account, you will find that the persons LinkedIn profile will appear first., so having a great LinkedIn profile is a must of you want to be easily found on Google or other search engines.
#Reason 14: Become a Thought Leader
One of the easiest ways to be recognized as an expert or thought leader in any field is to start consistently sharing content about the subject matter on relevant platforms. LinkedIn is one such platform. As I earlier mentioned, posts on LinkedIn have a longer lifespan than some other social media platforms and they are more engaging because people have more meaningful conversations. Maximize this by consistently sharing relevant content on your subject matter and soon people will get to recognize you as a thought leader and expert in that field.
#Reason 15: Stay Up to Date With Industry News
Everyone likes to be the bearer of good news, and becasue LinkedIn is a professional platform for individuals and companies alike, whenever something great is happening in an industry or organization, LinkedIn is usually a primary platform to share it. Information such as job opportunities, mergers and acquisitions, IPO's, movement of key industry players etc. are often shared direct from the source on the platform. So don't miss out on current happenings in your space or industry, get on LinkedIn now if you haven't already.
